₹4500 Cr Tata Power-NTPC Renewable Energy Deal Signed
Tata Power Renewable Energy Ltd (TPREL), a subsidiary of Tata Power, has signed a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with NTPC Limited to develop a 200 MW Firm and Dispatchable Renewable Energy (FDRE) project, valued at approximately ₹4,500 crore. Designed to ensure reliable and flexible power delivery, the project will meet NTPC’s scheduling needs and is slated for completion within 24 months. This marks a significant milestone in Tata Power’s commitment to firm renewable solutions. In a parallel development, Tata Power received approval from the Maharashtra Electricity Regulatory Commission (MERC) to set up a 100 MW Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) in Mumbai. The BESS will be distributed across 10 critical locations and completed over the next two years. With advanced black start capabilities, it will provide rapid power restoration for essential services like metros, hospitals, and data centers during outages. Additionally, it will enhance grid stability and manage peak power demand more efficiently, all controlled via Tata Power’s Power System Control Center (PSCC).
